We tell ethical stories of our development and humanitarian efforts to inform, raise awareness, and influence policy decisions for social and ecological good.

Our Communication Department plays a pivotal role in documenting, amplifying, and promoting CNRS’s work across all thematic areas. Through strategic storytelling, innovative media, and stakeholder engagement, we ensure that the organization’s mission, achievements, and lessons are shared effectively with diverse audiences at local, national, and international levels.


Core Functions:


  1. Strategic Communication: Development of communication strategies, campaigns, and branding guidelines aligned with organizational objectives and projects.
  2. Media and Documentation: Photo and video documentation, video documentaries, art, illustrations, and reporting materials that highlight projects and community stories.
  3. Awareness and Outreach: Design and execution of IEC materials, posters, banners, social media content, awareness campaigns, and events to maximize engagement and visibility.
  4. Digital Platforms: Website design, maintenance, and social media management to strengthen online presence and accessibility.
  5. Ethical Communication: Ensuring all storytelling is respectful, accurate, and informed by principles of consent, cultural sensitivity, and do-no-harm practices.


Key TV Air highlights:

  1. Developed a video documentary and TV spots (1 min, 30 sec, 15 sec), along with 17 fact sheets and 10 booklets, broadcast on BTV and Channel I for the Climate Change Cell/UNDP-DoE (2006–2007).
  2. Produced a video documentary and TV spots for the Bangladesh Environment Governance Network (BNEG) with support from CIDA (2007–2010).
  3. Served as producer of a short film in collaboration with Channel I and the University of Manitoba, broadcast on Channel I (2011).
  4. Co-developed a 16-episode, 10-minute-long documentary series, aired on Channel I with support from IDRC, Canada (2017).

Our well-equipped and dedicated Communication Department, led by our Senior Manager of Communication, Knowledge and Development, who along with a dedicated team oversees all communication operations and ensures they align with organizational objectives. The team includes an Officer of Publication and Documentation, responsible for producing high-quality reports, publications, and documentation materials; an Assistant Communication Officer specializing in Photo, Video, and Public Relations, focusing on capturing and promoting CNRS’s work through visual storytelling and stakeholder engagement; and an Assistant Communication Officer skilled in Digital and Traditional Art, creating compelling visual content for both digital platforms and print media. Together, this multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively to deliver impactful communication outputs across CNRS’s programs and thematic areas. plays a central role in strengthening both project and organizational visibility.


We lead the development and execution of tailored communication strategies, ensuring alignment with institutional goals while amplifying the impact of our initiatives. The unit specializes in producing high-quality documentation and communication materials that highlight our work across seven key thematic areas: Environment and Climate Change, Food Security and Livelihood (FSL), Community Development and Governance, Health & Nutrition, Disaster Management and Resilience, Child Welfare and Protection, and Institutional Development.


Through strategic storytelling, innovative design, and diverse communication tools, we strive to connect stakeholders, inspire action, and position CNRS as a thought leader and change-maker in the development sector.


Our ethical code

  1. Take Consent: We always obtain informed consent before collecting stories, images, or information. We respect the dignity, privacy, and rights of all community members.
  2. Do No Harm: We ensure that no child, woman, or man is harmed physically, emotionally, or socially, through our communication practices.
  3. Respect Culture and Beliefs: We honor local and indigenous cultures, customs, and religious practices. We recognize boundaries and avoid actions or representations that may offend or misrepresent.
  4. Authentic Storytelling: We portray communities truthfully and respectfully. We let people tell their own stories in their own voices, avoiding manipulation, stereotyping, or forced representation.
  5. Responsible Media Use: We use only photographs, videos, artwork, or other media that belong to CNRS or for which permission has been granted. When we use external media, we verify sources, obtain consent, and give proper credit.
  6. Protect Identity When Needed: We safeguard the identities of vulnerable individuals or groups when necessary to ensure their safety and well-being.
  7. Promote Dignity and Empowerment: We focus on the strengths, resilience, and aspirations of communities rather than only their challenges or vulnerabilities.
  8. Transparency: We clearly explain the purpose of communication, how materials will be used, and who the audience will be.
  9. Accountability: We take responsibility for our content and its impact, and we welcome feedback from communities and stakeholders.
  10. Inclusivity: We ensure that all voices, including marginalized or underrepresented groups, are included in our storytelling.
  11. Data Privacy and Security: We store and handle personal information securely and only share what is necessary for communication purposes.
  12. Avoid Exploitation or Sensationalism: We avoid content that exploits trauma or suffering for attention or fundraising purposes.
  13. Accuracy and Fact-Checking: We verify all information before publishing to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  14. Sustainability in Communication Practices: We use environmentally responsible practices in producing and distributing communication materials.
