A STORY OF CHANGE

Joty chowhan, BHHs ID 583555110021, a self-motivated college going adolescent of Bhabanigonj Bazar village at Paschim Juri Union in Juri Upazila. She had to lead a life of misery as her father’s sudden demise on few years back. There was none to lead their family expenditure. At that dismal situation, her mother, Anjaly Chowhan, started to work as a servant in a local office to take the hold of family income.

In 2018, Joty has become a beneficiary on very poor category of SUCHANA project and become an energetic member of Jui Pustidol. Later on, she has received training on goat rearing and two goats as a way to income generating activity from the project.

Joty chowhan is a very agile and wise adolescent. She has started rearing the goats as per the learnings from the training she has received. Joty along with her mother takes care of the goats regularly. They feed them well and vaccinated on timely. Moreover, they managed a bamboo fenced shelter for those. These caring attitude proved prolific as the goats gave birth of two more goats one male and another is female.

They are happy as they can sell them to buyers and get some cash to ensure family expenditure and nutritious intake on regular basis. By this way they become self-reliant. At present, they can bear their family needs. This also helps to maintain the educational expenses.

“I can bear my family expenses now and everyone respects us for this reason” said Joty joyously.

Joty is an active adolescent member of Adolescent group of SUCHANA as she regularly participates the life skill and nutrition sessions and other activities as well.

Sabitri, Suchana Community Mobilizer, said “Joty is a very active member she is better among her peer and participate all the program.”
